OUR STORY

After a decade of building inside companies big and small, Ron, Josh, and Cam kept running into the same wall: no matter how good the team, the work, or the product—there was always a ceiling. And more often than not, layoffs made the decision for you.

We decided to stop waiting for the next "opportunity" and build our own.

Midnight Aurora is the studio we wish existed years ago. One where we get to work on ideas we actually care about—with people we trust, respect, and enjoy being around. Sometimes that means building our own products. Sometimes it means partnering with founders who are onto something real.

We bring a few decades of experience across product, brand, growth, and ops. We've launched new businesses, scaled existing ones, and helped companies—from YC startups to household names—build better, faster, and with more intention.
We're not chasing headlines. We're building for the long haul.

the midnight model

We are a hybrid studio, which means we both take in products we believe in and we build out our own products that we wish existed.

Clients

You lead the project and we’re coming in to bring it to life. It’s that simple. We’ll collaborate and align with your vision and execute on a final product.

partners

We co-lead the project where we all have a vested interest with shared profit and workload. We love to collaborate on great ideas on products we want to use.

Cam Cheline

design lead

Cam is a story-driven design leader, startup-savvy creative, and idea machine. He rebrands job sites, builds blood-testing apps, and launches spillway-inspired ventures—blending strategy, swagger, and sketchbook smarts to make things that stick.

He’s led 20+ person teams, rebooted dusty UX, and pitched a pillow you can scream into. Midnight Aurora is his playground. Collaboration is his currency.

He’s a globe-wandering dad, a workout junkie, and a softie for his grey cat and grey pittie. Founder mind. Designer heart. Just enough chaos to keep it real.

josh hudson

growth lead

Josh has two young kids—a toddler and a baby—which means life moves fast and routines are never routine.

Over the past decade, he’s helped consumer brands grow through better onboarding, smarter retention, and product experiences that actually stick. He got his start during the early subscription boom, drawn to the challenge of turning casual users into long-term members. Since then, he’s worked across growth, lifecycle, and product marketing—launching features, designing engagement loops, and finding leverage in the details most people overlook.

Outside of work, he splits time between sprint workouts, fiction in all forms, and tinkering with fantasy football rosters. Strategic when it matters, scrappy when it counts. Can dad bros be hipsters? He’s trying to find out.

ronald hunter

development lead

Ronald Hunter is a creative and systems-focused developer passionate about building technology that empowers communities, tells cultural stories, and improves everyday life. With a strong foundation in frontend development, infrastructure, and automation, he thrives at the intersection of code, culture, and human behavior. Ronald explores emerging tech like AI, decentralized systems, and local-first software, aiming to craft tools that are ethical, expressive, and impactful. He’s especially drawn to projects that involve netnography, media ecosystems, and mutual aid. Whether self-hosting a secure stack or designing for civic life, Ronald builds with intention, always asking how tech can serve people—not just scale.

WHAT WE GIVE A SH*T about

We find we do our best work when we are in the worlds we gravitate to. These are just some of those worlds you’ll find us in away from a computer.

01

You first

We want our team to put themselves first. Their health, their relationships, their family, their puppy comes first. We know that when we create an environment that encourages healthy living, we all benefit.

02

Try anything

Nothing is ever off the table. We will give every crazy idea that we might not be sure about a chance. We know experimenting is a massive part of our world. It’s how we discover beautiful things.

03

egos can go

We don’t work with people who want to claim the wins. We are a collaborative team of creatives and we know that we we struggle together, we fight together and we win together. There is no solo mindset at Midnight.

04

Failure is part of the process

As George Clooney said “You learn from the mistakes you make and from the mistakes other people make. The truth is, you don’t learn from success; you learn from failure.” Failures are springboards to where you want to go if you let them be and we fully embrace failures because it means we’re swinging big.

05

We got each other’s back

Everyone has bad days. We have a lot of them. At Midnight we can count on each other. When things aren’t going so well, when we feel a bit beat down, we make sure to step in and help each other out.

06

We stay curious

We’re always learning, growing, trying. We love to experiment, discover and find new fresh ways of doing things. We never want to do the same thing twice and will always be looking to innovative ways to approach things.
